I started Soma Supplies because I wanted a reason to be creative again, and a way to share that with other people. I also wanted something that enabled me to slow down and step away from screens for a while — everything about how we live pushes us to move faster, and this is my excuse to do the opposite, less time scrolling more time making.
People ask about the name a lot. It's a play on the word somatics, which is basically the idea that we can reconnect with ourselves through the body. For me, that's making: the repetitive motion, the feel of the materials, getting lost in creativity.
Making has always been a part of my life, and it's genuinely made me happier and calmer. And I don't think I'm the only one — a lot of people are picking their needles, paintbrushes, clay, and thread back up lately. There's something to be said for finishing a thing that you made with your own hands that just feels good.
Each kit has everything you need to make your own necklace. Sit down, put on some music, light a candle if that's your thing, and make something. It doesn't need to be perfect. It just needs to be yours.
